Peloton Leadership – Leadership Lessons from the Tour de France
In 1988, our speaker barely missed out on qualifying for the US Olympic Trials in Road Racing. He has ridden with some of the biggest names in professional cycling, including Davis Phinney, Nelson Vail, and yes, even once with the disgraced Lance Armstrong. This entertaining keynote will challenge some of your traditional views of leadership and the role of the leader, and hopefully make you think.
A mindful leader is someone who embodies leadership presence by cultivating focus, clarity, creativity and compassion in the service of others. Are these the traits you admire in your leaders? Is this the type of leader you aspire to be? This workshop, presented by our International Director, will introduce you to some of the principles of mindful leadership. You will walk away learning how the principles of mindful leadership can transform your leadership.

Practical Persuasion: A Spy’s Guide to Persuasive Appeal
Use intentional dialogue to master persuasion in work and life
The ability to persuade someone’s thoughts and actions is eagerly sought and rarely understood. Persuasive people enjoy enhanced relationships, successful careers and personal achievements. Some claim that persuasion is a talent that you must be born with. Others consider persuasion a predictable outcome for those with power and authority. Neither is correct. In this presentation, former CIA agent Andrew Bustamante shares winning persuasive techniques used by spies, statesmen and salesmen around the world. Through practical tips, audience interaction and real-time application, you will learn how to master persuasion to achieve your own professional and personal goals. Practice will be plentiful in this session that promises to be entertaining, enlightening and empowering!
The Art and Craft of Storytelling
“There is a new trend in public speaking – storytelling.” So says David Henderson, World Champion of Public Speaking, 2010. This certainly is the case with the current World Champions of Public Speaking. They have won with personal stories. Whatever kind of stories you tell and for whatever purpose, all stories have the same elements. This workshop will cover the basic components of a story, where storytellers get their stories, and how to develop personal stories. According to Olivia Schofield, 2011 European Champion of Public Speaking, everyone has a story to tell. Workshop participants will learn the art of embellishment – a critical component in the telling of personal stories – and hear an example of how Olivia used it in her winning speech. Participants will leave the workshop with a knowledge of where to find a story, how to craft it using the six components of a story, and how to use it to make a point.
Guide For Achieving DTM
Once Pathways roles out you’ll have a 2 year grace period to complete your Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award. Learn what it will take to complete your DTM before starting the Pathways Program.
A Crash Course in The Art of Speech Craft
The speech that wins at the district is a distant cousin to the speech that wins on the world stage. Kevin Stamper will share how his speech evolved on the journey to Vancouver and tips for how to develop a speech that will take you to the highest levels of competition. He’ll also tell you all about what it was like to compete on the world stage.
After Dinner Entertainment:
Boomerangs are Coming Back – What Goes Around Comes Around
